Why are some areas the wrong color?

A tile is never tinted, so a color your library has few of gets the nearest it has. Fewer photos in a picture usually helps: try a smaller size under Options. Or add more photos.

It says it needs more photos.

It needs a library to choose from, and it looks best with a lot of them. If you shared only some photos with it, you can allow more from the first screen or in Settings.

Why does a tile stay soft when I zoom in?

That photo may be stored only in iCloud and not on this device, or it may have been deleted since the picture was kept. The picture is safe either way, because it keeps its own copy.

How do I see the original?

Press Original at the bottom, or press and hold the picture.

What happens when I share one?

Small Tiles keeps the photos inside too small to look through. Full Detail lets the person you send it to zoom in on every one. Video of It Building is a short film of the picture coming together, and with Camera Lift it opens on photos at nearly full size.
